St James's Conservative Candidates

LOUISE HYAMS

Louise has lived in London all her life and has had the honour and privilege of representing St. James's Ward for the last twelve years. Since her election in 1998 she has worked with local amenity groups to promote and protect the interests of residents in one of Westminster's most vibrant and challenging wards. During that period, Louise has been pleased to see significant improvements to the environment and quality of life in the centre of our capital city with the implementation of Westminster City Council's "Clean and Safe" policies. She served on the Licensing Committee for many years and is now a member of one of the City's Planning and Development Sub-Committees. She has been very involved in Social Services and is proud of Westminster's record of excellence in that area, particularly in its care for vulnerable children. She is currently Deputy Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services.
Louise served as Lord Mayor for the municipal year 2008/09.

TIM MITCHELL

Tim Mitchell has served on Westminster City Council since 1998. He has lived and worked in Westminster for over 20 years and is a self-employed computer consultant. An active member of the St James's area community, he serves on the committees of several local groups, as a governor of a primary school and an adult education institute. He has served as Cabinet Member for Transport and is a past chairman of education, health, housing and social services committees. Presently, Tim is Chairman of the Council's Audit & Performance Committee and a member of a planning committee. As a Westminster resident, Tim understands that the Council has a vital role in protecting residents from adverse impacts of inner city life and of promoting enhancements to our local environment.

CAMERON THOMSON

Cameron Thomson has been a Westminster resident for more than thirty years. He is a governor of a Westminster primary school and a trustee of the St. Clement Danes' Educational Foundation. He is committed to strengthening our residential communities and to ensuring that St. James's remains an attractive place to live for people of all backgrounds. He understands the importance of preserving the best of the ward's unique architectural heritage while London grows and evolves. He wants to ensure that a Conservative-led council continues to provide the conditions in which local businesses can thrive and prosper. He believes that all residents are entitled to first class services and will work to secure further improvements while keeping council tax low.
